TGVs from Tours to Paris make the trip in a little over one hour and arrive at Gare Montparnasse. Some departure times require a connection at Saint-Pierre-des-Corps. Intercity trains from Tours to Paris make the trip in around 2 1/2 hours and arrive at Gare d'Austerlitz.
Depending upon the time of departure, there are direct TGVs from Paris Est to Basel and there are routes that require a connection. Direct TGVs make the trip in 3 1/2 hours.
Book Tours-Paris and Paris-Basel separately at www.tgv-europe.com. To get the cheapest fares, book ASAP (up to three months in advance). Be sure to choose Great Britain as your country of residence or you will be bumped to the Rail Europe site which doesn't offer discount fares.
If you arrive at Gare Montparnasse, take Metro line 4 directly to Gare de l'Est. If you arrive at Gare d'Austerlitz, take Metro line 5 directly to Gare de l'Est. The fare for a single ticket is €1.60.
