Looking for advice for car rental vs. railpass in Switzerland. details: 4 women, 50+ travelling together for 5 days. Geneva, Murren/Interlaken/Gimmelwald, Lugano. One, somewhat used to West Coast mountain highway/roads willing to drive, but wondering about driving conditions that time of year at that altitude. Not anxious to drive if road conditions are bad (i.e. snowing) I understand it would be less expensive to rent a car vs. 4 Swiss saver flexi pass.
Welcome any thoughts.

I drove in Switzerland for 8 days (Zurich - Geneva - Interlaken - Lugano - Vaduz - Zurich) a few years ago. It was my first experience in mountain driving. I get used to it after 1st hour. Just be careful on turns :). When we were there (late September - early October) driving conditions were OK. It was somewhat cold, bit rainy, but no snow. Not sure about late October though. I would suggest car because it is cheaper and much more flexible. We were stopping A LOT along the way to take pictures because mountains are just simply beautiful.
Distances are short, just a few hours. You don't really get tired. The only con of a car is parking - it is pretty expensive, especially in Geneva. Hope this helps.
