We will be traveling from London to Amsterdam during the spring of 2013, what is our best option other than flying?
Eurostar train London to Brussels, Thalys train from there to Amsterdam. Or Eurostar to Paris, Thalys from there.
chck out the night ferry from Hoek. We took it last May; it's a combination train/ferry to the UK, train from the port to the Liverpool station.
If you take Jerry's advice, you will end up in Liverpool, 200 miles from London. The station you want is Liverpool Street.
The train-ferry-train service between London and Amsterdam is offered by Stena Lines and is known as the Dutch Flyer. If you book well in advance on the NS Hispeed site, you can get a fare as low as €61.50 for the Eurostar from London to Brussels and an IC train from there to Amsterdam. Taking a Thalys train from Brussels to Amsterdam will be two hours faster, but will cost more. You also can book that combination on the NS site.
