I understand aerlingus and iceland air allow extended layovers, however, I have been unable to confirm this. Is this true and how do I find out? Calls to both airlines have given conflicting information.

Thanks for the ifo. Three calls to aerlingus with the scenario of a 4 day layover got me quotes of about $70, 100 and $1,700 additional over straight roundtrip. The rep at iceland air (today) had no understanding and suggested I book as a multi city (even though there is a link on their site identifying this as a feature--it could not be booked or scheduled). Perhaps I will spend a few days in Barcelona (again)

I have flown with Aer Lingus several times and I have never heard anything about extended layovers at no additional charge. I understand that Icelandair does allow such layovers, but I have no personal experience with it.
