We will be leaving Vilshofen, Germany after a river cruise up the Danube. We would like to travel to Berne, Switzerland, Thun and Interlaken taking a train to Jungfraujoch. Also, on to Lucerne and then to Milan, Italy and Lake Como. I am so confused on how to do this. Any advice?

You will be taking a train across virtually the whole width of Germany. Expect a train trip from Vilshofen, which is in Passau practically in the Czech Republic and nearly in Austria to Bern to take about 8 and a half hours, and the time you go will determine where you change trains and that will determine your fare. You would do well to become used to using the Bahn website (German railways) and popping in your start city and end city for segments and the dates you are interested in. Then you can look at all the options and figure out the order you want to travel.
