Disclaimer: This is how I would do it, without any other information. First, you'll need to get to the city. There are trains (RER) that connect CDG to the main city and are easy to find at the airport. If you are headed straight to Giverny, you need to get to the Saint-Lazare Station in Paris. One way is to head to Châtelet station, then transfer to metro number 14 to Saint-Lazare. It's the last on that line. From there, you hop on a train and head to Vernon. From there, if you are visiting the gardens, it's a short shuttle/taxi ride. Here's some info on Vernon/Giverny: http://giverny.org/transpor/ Once you are done in Giverny, head back to Paris the way you came and then head to Gare de Lyon. The same metro line (14) will take you there directly. Once there, you will hop on a long distance train and arrive in Avignon. You can get tickets online at http://www.sncf.com/en/passengers As for the car, I would check kayak.com

When do you plan to go to Giverny? The gardens closed 1 November and won't open again until 1 April.

We are going to Giverny in May 2013. I know that they usually close on Mondays, so not that day. We have been there several times only with a day tour from Paris. This time we have chosen to spend several days there to truly get the feel of the place. It is one of my most favorite places. Thanks for your help Ann
