Transportation

Hi, I will traveling in Spain, France and Switzerland next year. Arriving in Barcelona and then traveling to San Sabastian (Spain), Salat (France), Lyon (France) and lastly to Switzerland (Lusanna and Zurich). I will be leaving out of Zurich. Any transportation thoughts? I can rent a car or travel by train or both. I think it probably costly dropping off the car in Switzerland but may be the most convenient.

I suspect this is probably a case where it would be best to use trains to get from region to region. In some paces, such as the Dordogne, a car will greatly help you to get about and see the sights. Also SW France is generally not served well by rail, so you might pick up a car in a city that is (such as Bordeaux) and drive to Sarlat, then use the car to get to Lyon. You'll pay no drop-off surcharge if you rent and return in France, but a hefty one will apply if you return in a different country than the one in which you rent.
