transportaion from Keil or hamberg to berlin

Gwen, The best and easiest way to get from Kiel to Berlin is by train. They go through Hamburg. You can take a direct regional train from Kiel Hbf., which is not far from where you dock in Kiel, to Hamburg Hbf. ca. a little over an hour. Change there to a ICE direct train to Berlin Hbf. In 2011 I did the reverse route, Berlin-Kiel via Hamburg. Or, do you plan on flying from Hamburg to Berlin?

There is one direct ICE train that leaves Kiel at 07:53 and arrives in Berlin at 10:48. For all other morning departure times you'll need to make a connection in Hamburg. The standard 2nd class fare is €84.00. However, if you book ASAP (up to 92 days allowed) on the German Rail site, you can get a discount fare as low as €29.00. Discount fare tickets are for a specific departure date and time and are non-exchangeable and non-refundable, so be sure you check to see when you'll be allowed to disembark and allow plenty of time to get to the train station.

Hi, Kiel is different too, very much so. I can't say that the reconstruction style appeals to me but still like visiting the city. When are you going to be there? If it's the last week in June, you'll be there for the yearly regatta (the famous Kieler Woche).

My girlfriend and I arrive in Kiel 5/7/13 and my tour in Italy starts 5/12/13 so I just have a few days to fill so I was hoping for picturesque and enjoyable few days in germany. She will be joining her family and I will continue on myself.

Hi, Good, with that arrival time you can be in Berlin by noon or so, since the ICE connection from Hamburg Hbf to Berlin Hbf is frequent as is the regional train Kiel to Hamburg Hbf.
