My flight arrives on Tuesday, 18 May, at 12:00 at Milan Linate and we want to travel to Venice in the afternoon. I understand there is a shuttle bus that takes us to Milan Central Rail Station, but how much time should I allow between flight arrival and train departure to Venice? Advance tickets are a 30% savings, and I am on a tight budget, so I'd like to buy now if possible. Departure times that afternoon are 13:35, 14:35, 15:05, and 16:05. I'm hoping someone has had this same (or a similar) itinerary. I'd also appreciate some suggestions on hotel for two nights in Venice.
I'm sorry to have to tell you that the Trenitalia site does not accept US credit cards for online booking so you won't be able to get the advance purchase meno30 fare. (The ticket machines at the train station do accept US cards and they have an English option.)
The bus ride from Linate to Milano Centrale is scheduled to take 50 minutes. Add to that the time it will take you to go through immigration/passport control and the first train you will be able to catch if your flight lands on time is the one that departs at 14:35.
