My husband and I have purchased the Eurail Global Pass (15 day consecutive). I'm not sure if this covers our traveling within Paris local areas ? Would like to get some insight to this. Thanks ,
MArion
I think you could benefit from the following two website. tomsguidetoparis.com parisbytrain.com
I somehow doubt it very much,, would be nice though if it did for the expense of the pass!!! Do not go and buy a pass for Paris till you check carefully. There are various ones available... often seemingly full of advantages, but simply not worth the price. How long will you be in Paris.. I have a feeling to justify buying a Global Pass you will be moving around a lot so likely only a few days in Paris?? In which case best deal is likely to purchase ONE carnet and split it between you and hubby ( this is legal as a carnet is simply ten one way bus/metro tickets sold at a discount , anyone can use them ) Carnet is about 13 eurors.. depending on where you are staying you may be able to walk to many sites.
A Eurail pass will not cover your travel in the Paris metro. as Pat said, you'll need to buy a carnet of 10 tickets for €13.30 or a weekly Navigo if your dates in the city happen to coincide with the dates that the Navigo runs (I.e. the week begins on Monday and ends on Sunday. For example, if you arrive on a Wednesday and stay till the next Wednesday, you'd have to buy two Navigos each, which is clearly not a good idea.).
