Transport from Venice to Marco Polo Airport

We will be in Venice for in June 2016. We are five adults with 10 pieces of luggage. We will be renting an apartment somewhere within Venice. Our flight home leaves Marco Polo at 10:55 am. I am concerned about getting to the airport by 8:55 to check in since Venice is all water and no ability to book a limo. How do you get to the airport from a location somewhere on the island? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Dennis,

One of the cheapest methods would probably be to take a Vaporetto from your hotel to Piazzale Roma, and then use the Venice airport shuttle bus. You could also use the AliLaguna from the stop nearest your hotel to the airport. If you have a generous budget, you can also use the Water Taxi.

For five people the cost of the vaporetto plus bus combination will be around €65--- more if they decide to charge for the extra luggage. The Alilaguna will be around €75. If the water taxi is still €100 ( I did not look up current prices so not sure about that), I think it would be well worth the little bit extra for the ease, speed, and comfort.

We used a water taxi that our hotel booked for us. It is more expensive but could not have been easier! Our experience at the airport was frustrating as we all started to line up for check in. No employees showed up at the designated time, no announcements. We had to search for help and then had to hustle to another area. Not sure if that is normal for this airport, but a little info for you to use if necessary.

Two other things - if you do take a water taxi (good idea with that much luggage) know that it is a good 10 minute walk from the taxi dock to the check in desks for somebody pulling one small suitcase. Not to put you off, but budget for the time.

The other - how are you moving all those people and all that luggage to the apartment? And where are you stashing the luggage while you are there?
