Transport from Prague to Cesky Krumlov

Hello,
I have heard that the best way of travelling from Prague to Cesky Krumlow is to go by bus or hire a private car. I am wondering if anyone might have good recommendation regarding the best alternative
Thanks,
Carl

Rick's opinion is that it's faster, cheaper and easier to go by bus rather than train: by bus 3.5 hrs, ~7/day, buy tickets from the driver or (3 yrs ago, last info I have) 2 of the 7 departures per day could be reserved and paid for at the TI.If money is no object, the TI can refer you to private drivers.

Personally I prefer train to bus. More comfortable seating, cooler in summer. Difference in price is negligible. True, you have to change trains in Ceske Budejovice. The whole journey takes slightly under 4 hours or over depending on waiting time in C.B.

We took the Student Agency bus from Prague to CK last month and it was great. It leaves from the big bus station near the Andel metro station. It was cheap, clean and air conditioned. If I recall correctly, it was 140 Kr per person one way (about $9 US). It made 3 stops before we got to our stop in CK, but didn't require any changes. We even got to watch a movie (subtitled in English).

Then on our return we hired a car from Mike's Chauffeur Service back to Prague (www.mike-chauffeur.cz). We had to catch a flight out of Prague so our very nice and able driver, Jana, picked us up at our hotel in CK and delivered us directly to the Prague airport for about $230US total.

Both the bus and the driver took about 3 hours and I would recommend both services highly, depending on your need.

We took the bus from Praha to Cesky Krumlov...it was ok. Apparently the bus is much faster than the train.

Here is the link for trains and busses in CR...the picture will tell you if it is a bus or train.

From: Praha
To: Cesky Krumlov

For practice enter a date a few days ahead of today. Then change the time to: 06:00.

Click: SEARCH

Then scroll down to lower right and click on: NEXT
several times and it will show you the timetables for all day.

When you find the one you are interest you...click on
Connection Details and it will show you every stop the train or bus makes and the time.

When traveling, I alway print out the timetables for my travel day in case I want to take an earlier or later train....along with the details.
