Transport from Marco Polo Airport to Venice Hotel

I have read that taking the water taxi may be the best form of transport from the airport to the hotel. Our hotel is Hotel Hesperia near the Guglie area. Would it be possible or more cost efficient to just take a taxi from the airport into Venice and take the canal from there? Or is it worth it just to pay the 100+ euros to hop on the water taxi. We do have 1 medium suitcase, 1 small and 2 duffle bags. We can handle a short trek but I don't want to be exasperated either. Recommendations??

The least expensive way would be to take the bus from the airport to the Piazzale Roma and walk from there. Have you checked with the hotel about what they recommend?

Carly, as you exit the airport, there are two different bus lines (ATVO and ACTV) that will take you to the Piazzale Roma. The fare is about 7Euro. From the Piazzale Roma, it's a 15-minute walk to the Hotel Hisperia. You cross the bridge over the Grand Canal and walk in front of the train station and a bit further until you reach the next bridge. Turn left and walk 200 meters. A water taxi will cost you about 100Euro and it will take you directly to your hotel. But, you walk 10 minutes from the airport to the docks so what's an extra 5 minutes to save 93Euro. Here's a link to a map to your hotel from the Piazzale Roma. http://gyazo.com/239a37b7b1096c83d641090bf2012c85
