Allan, please be aware we can;t provide good advice without specifics. Which airport are you using? and, what is the addresss of your hotel, in which arrondisment? How many people, as sometimes a taxi is almost the same cost as a shuttle? Have you looked at a RS guidebook which has a step by step recommendation for what he recommends? Thanks,
melissa

Coming in from Dallas probably means T2 at Roissy. If that's the case and you're not traveling with a mob or a bunch of junk: On the lower level at about the midpoint of all the T2 subterminals there's an rer station. Go there. Look at the map. The fact that you're going to ride the RER #2 into Paris is a given, but you've got to hive out the closest metro/rer stop to where you untimatley want to pop above ground. Figure out the names of any transfer stations and what line you'll use next, if any. Buy a ticket for about twelve bucks which will be good until you exit the entire system. Your credit card probably won't work at the ticket machines, cash will. You can use the credit card at the manned booths. If you're coming in at Roissy T1 or Orly, ask without caps, and we'll cough up that scoop.
