transporation from Heathrow Airport

My family (4 people) is arriving in Heathrow and need to get into London to either Edgeware Road or Marylebone stations. What is the easiest way?

With four people it's probably worth looking into a car service. I've seen good reports of http://www.justairports.com/ - although since I travel solo I've never used them myself. Otherwise you could take the train - Heathrow Express (faster but more expensive) or Heathrow Connect - to Paddington and either a taxi or the tube one/two stops east.

Edgware (note that there is no "e" in the middle) Road (there are two different stations with the same name - one on the Bakerloo Line, the other on the Circle Line and Hammersmith and City) is pretty close and not a bad walk from Paddington. Marylebone is a bit further.

The easiest way is to take a regular black London cab from the taxi rank at Heathrow to your hotel. It could cost about £60. Second easiest is a pre-arranged car: www.london-transfers.com www.justairports.com www.skyexpresscars.net
www.handicars.co.uk and www.simplyairports.co.uk The price should be under £40, you can check prices online. Third easiest way is to take the Heathrow Express to Paddington and a taxi from there. The Heathrow Express could cost £66 plus £5 for the taxi. The Heathrow Connect would be about £32 plus £5 for the taxi. The tube would cost £20 maximum, take about 70 minutes and would be feasible if you are in good health and can carry your luggage some distance and perhaps up a flight of stairs or escalator in one trip.

Also, if you chose the tube check to see if there is "work on the line" I flew out of London yesterday and planned to take the tube as I had lots of time. However, after reading about the "bus detour" I decided on Heathrow Connect! Work seems to be happening on weekends.

Carol's comment about work on the line is a good one- and not just for the airports.
In the summer it's quite common for 'Engineering work' to be done on rail lines all over the country, so it's a good idea to always check on the appropriate website, if you're planning on weekend travel by rail.
