A friend and I will be going to Italy this April. We need to get from Assisi to Siena on April 7. In Rick's guidebook it said there is a bus and that you need to get the tickets from a travel agency in Assisi. I sent the travel agancy an e-mail but didn't hear back from them. I have to be certain about this in order to make plans for a place to stay and to book some countryside tours from Siena. Does anyone know how I can get the information about the bus? Someone in Siena has tried to help me and she wasn't able to get the information either. Thanks.
You might try e-mailing the TI office at [email protected]. If your concern is whether you can get from Assisi to Siena by public transit, you can always make the trip by train. Trip takes a little over 3 hours for most trains, a bit longer for some. Downside is that the train trip requires 2 changes, but the stations are small and the changes are easy.
Beth, Your problem is that trains and buses don't go from Assisi to Siena they go from Santa Maria degli Angeli to Siena. There are a couple of buses per hour going from Assisi to Santa Maria degli Angeli. See http://www.sena.it/index_e.htm and

Technically Henry is correct. The Assisi train station is not in Assisi. However, when you get off the train in Santa Maria degli Angeli, the sign hanging in the station says "Assisi". Assisi itself is a short bus ride from the train station. If you cannot find the bus, you can take the Trenitalia train from Assisi (Santa Maria degli Angeli) to Siena. The journey will take 3.5hrs-4.0hrs and will require two train changes - one at Terontola-Cortona and the other at Chiusi. The fare is 10.75Eu.
