We are flying (BA) from Phoenix to London to Rome. Will we have to go through customs and immigration at Heathrow or in Rome, or both?
You will go through customs and immigration in Rome. At Heathrow, you will follow the signs for flight connections which will keep you airside. You will go through a security check. The Heathrow website has a very detailed page that can guide you through the steps for a flight connection. www.heathrowairport.com/heathrow-airport-guide/flight-connections
Thank you, Laura. I was concerned about the delays at Heathrow that I 've been reading about! I'm glad that as transit passengers we won't be affected. Now let's hope that Rome's immigration and customs are fast and easy!
Customs is never a big deal. No line, just walk through the " nothing to declare" door with everyone else ( assuming you do have nothing to declare).
Although there will not be any customs or immigration to go through, there will be a security check.
