I am an elderly person and am wondering how easy it is to transfer from my Delta arrival flight to the InterCity Train Station at Frankfurt Airport. I plan to travel by train to Dresden, Leipzig and Berlin before my return to Frankfurt for my flight home. Any help on doing this will be appreciated.
Very easy, it is connected to the main terminal. A long-ish walk, but otherwise easy and barrier-free.
I agree with Andre L., that it is an easy transfer, but don't try to book an advance purchase, discounted Savings Fare ticket for the rail trip. Those are non-refundable, train-specific tickets, and if your flight comes in late, you could be out the price of the ticket. If you are going to Berlin anyway, why not fly in and out of Berlin?
abhhome,
As the others have said, it's very easy to get to the stations at FRA, although some walking will be involved. One point to mention is that there are TWO rail stations at FRA, a Regionalbahnhof for local trains and a Fernbahnhof for long distance trains. You'll likely be using the latter. There's a ticket office near the tracks where you can buy tickets, either from a Kiosk or the staffed office.
Have a look at THIS website for some information and photos of the rail stations. You can use the German Rail website to get some idea on the departures at about the time your flight arrives.
Happy travels!
After looking at the Frankfurt airport website, I find that Delta flies into Terminal 2, so the trip from your gate to the train station will involve use of the Sky Line people mover, or a shuttle bus, from the top floor of Terminal 2 to the top floor of Terminal 1.
