I found some cheap airfare through Trip Advisor (Expedia) for Seattle to Berlin and Prague to Seattle for end Oct-early Nov. it is around $758 tax included. But they requires two stops which I'm not sure it give us enough time. Here is the layover details. option 1: Outbound flight (Air Canada) Seatac AP - vancouver layover 1 hr. 20 min Vancouver - LHR Heathrow layover 3 hr 20 min Inbound flight (Swiss Air & United Airlines) Prague - Zurich layover 1 hr. 45 min Zurich - San Francisco 2 hr 44min Option 2: Outbound flight (Air Canada & Lufthansa) Seatac - Toronto Pearson layover 2 hr 4 min Toronto to Frankfurt layover 1 hr 5 min Inbound flight (Swiss Air & United Airline) Prague - Zurich layover 1 hr. 45 min
Zurich - San Francisco 2 hr 44min Is this too risky? I normally fly direct or with only one stop.
The layover times look okay. However, if you're using 4 different airlines you might be asking for trouble .... if just one goes on strike or changes a schedule it could mess up the whole trip. And if you needed to change dates or alter your schedule, the change fees they charge these days could really add up.
Thanks, Tim. You stated a really good point, which I did not think before about using multiple carriers.
