I am planning a trip to Madrid in September and would like to know the cost of a transfer from the airport to the Chamartin train station. I would prefer not to use the Metro. Has anyone recently used a transfer/shuttle service? Any advice?

From Madrid airport Terminal 4, you can take the direct Cercanias train to Chamartin station (€2.50, 12 minutes), but if your flight doesn't come into Terminal 4, then you'd need a bus or metro ride within the airport. For a taxi into the city, Rick's guidebook estimates €30 by day from Terminals 1, 2, or 3, and €40 from Terminal 4.
