Transfer from Athens airport to Electra Palace hotel in Sept

Should we book the transfer from the Athens airport to the hotel thru the hotel? Or should we just get a taxi at the airport? What should a taxi cost. Don’t yet have the RS Greece book......

Or, you could just take the subway. Buy your ticket and validate it before you get on. Google the hotel address and the nearest subway stop. We did this a few years ago. Easy peasy.

Looks like your hotel is 2-4 blocks from the Syntagma Metro station.

If cost is an issue, that may be a convenient, inexpensive option. We used the Metro to/from airport and it was easy.

I have mostly taken the public transportation option on my travels until I went to Greece. For the first time I ordered a private transfer thru Welcome Pickups. The cost was an insignificant, IMO, amount over a taxi and it just felt wonderful to be greeted in the arrivals hall and not have to hunt for anything. While I wouldn't treat myself on every trip, Greece called for it. I see you are coming from CO so if you are flying direct, you won't have to drag your tired self any further.

When we were in Athens last September we decided to take the airport transfer that was offered by our hotel. As I recall it was a few euros more than a taxi. Our driver "Costas" gave us an informative introduction to Athens.

Taxis have a flat from airport to central city hotels. I think we paid €35
Make sure you request a room at Electra Palace that doesn’t have the mechanicals, pumps for the rooftop pool behind your room’s wall. The management knows which one they are.

If there are two of you or more the taxi is a good choice. You don’t have to deal with dragging luggage on and off the subway, the walk to the hotel. Not to mention-the Athens subway is crawling with pickpockets. You will be tired, with luggage, an obvious target. Avoid.

I had no trouble (single woman) getting to my hotel using the metro and then a 2-block walk in late April, but I wasn't tired or jetlagged when I landed. If you are arriving after a long-haul flight, take a taxi. If you're coming from a nearby country, Syntagma is easy - but look for the elevator that goes to street level, to avoid dragging luggage up the stairs.

My wife and I took the subway to and from the airport a couple of years ago. No problem. I think we paid 8 Euro each way.
