I'm planning a trip to Paris for May using United miles. The flight I want to take is Lufthansa ATL to FRA with a 2 hour 15 minute layover and then on to CDG. Is this enough time in FRA to make the connecting flight to CDG? Will I need to go through customs/passport control in FRA? I will be traveling with my parents, one who has some mobility problems. We will have checked bags as well. Thanks for the help and input.
Yes, you will go through immigration and get your passports stamped, commemorating your entry into the Schengen treaty zone. Customs will be at CDG when you collect your bags. My experience? Plenty of time provided your inbound flight is on time. If you get delayed, United (Lufthansa) is responsible to rebook you on another flight and see you get to CDG.
If you think the mobility issues warrant, then request transfer assistance, either when you book the ticket or a few days before departure. My parents had good experiences with those services. Conserve everyone's energy for the real sightseeing.
I definitely recommend transfer assistance at FRA. the airport is very large (with long terminals) and the walk from gate to gate may be very long (at least it is always long for me going to Italy, not sure about CDG). Once I requested assistance when my wife had a broken foot and they took us on the electric cart.
