transfer

We are 4 senior adults plus luggage. We are looking for a reasonable car service or shuttle service to transfer us from Siena to a hotel at the Fiumicino, Rome airport in October. We don't want to take public transportation. The prices I have gotten are very high, over $500. USD.

You could take the train from Siena to Rome for €22,50 per person, 2nd class...You can purchase these tickets in Siena when you first arrive there - be sure the agent understands the exact date you want to depart Siena!!! Then, take the shuttle train (Leonardo Express) to FCO. A private shuttle service WILL BE pricey; it's not as if Siena is a suburb of Rome...I can't find any better news, money-wise, for you on this mode of travel. Another popular option is the SENA bus; the link is below. You'll have to work through the Italian for 1 page, but it's very self-explanatory - just put in the correct dates, then on the next page you can change that one to English (look for the flags at the top right of the page)(just click on the box that says "Cerca" to proceed). It's €22,00 per person full-fare, €10,00 advance purchase - you can buy these online, but only 2 people per reservation, so at the beginning when the screen asks how many passengers, just type in 'two', then repeat again for the next two passengers. (cont.) IF it won't accept your American credit card, then send them an email requesting the bus you'd like and the number of passengers (remember - do this in groups of two only IF you're going for the discount fare). You can buy your tickets when you get to Siena if you'd like (perhaps when you first arrive to save yourself another trip to the ticket counter). BE SURE the ticket agent understands the actual date you want to travel!!! Note that the bus arrives at Roma Tiburtina, NOT the busier Termini station. Just type in "Siena" and "Roma": http://www.sena.it/Orari-Autobus/51-1.html Here is the more detailed timetable and bus stops: http://www.senabus.it/ENG/activenews.asp?idcat=3227&idart=58130&azione=list&layout=standard&cid=A201L205L220110413213016WQBVRYEUUOH08433017 This isn't at all what you asked for; it's just a couple of options for you to consider.
