Trans Dresden to Prague to Salzburg

Planning my third month-long European trip based on the info/tips from Rick and all of you great folks on the Helpline. However, I have two transportation questions. Do you have insight/preference into using the bus vs train to go from Dresden to Prague. (First heard about the bus on the Helpline) (Traveling Wed, May 15, 2013) How best to plan train from Prague to Salzburg. (Traveling on Sat, May 18, 2013) - Do I use DB Bahn or the Czk web-site? - This is where I really got confused. - The transfer times are pretty tight sometimes (some less than 10 minutes!) - My traveling companion and I are in our late 60's and we don't know if we should specify a time or assume the train schedule transfer times are adequate? If I specify a transfer time it sometimes changes the routing. - Never been on Czk rails. Do you recommend ordering tickets on-line? trip and/or seat reservations? - Also, may as well ask - any price saving tips?
Thanks

Dresden-Prague: If you book ASAP (up to 92 days allowed) on the German Rail site, you can get a discount fare as low as €19.00 on a direct IC train. The standard 2nd class fare is €33.70. Prague-Salzburg: Take an express bus from Prague to Munich and a train from there to Salzburg. If you book the whole route on the German Rail site as I outlined above, you can get a discount fare as low as €29.00. The standard 2nd class fare ranges from €90.60 to €95.60.

Tim gave you an excellent advice. As for your questions: You can use both websites but easier to use is DB website. Also the whole Europe is on it. From Dresden to Prague use train. More comfortable and faster. To have your tickets cheaper order them ahead on DB site. Usually you would be able to find seating on trains but not always. To make sure you will sit, make a reservation. You will have only one transfer: from bus to train in Munich. DB website will tell you how much time you need there.

Thanks for the information. It helped clarify some things when I looked at the data.
