Tram Information Please

Hello,

What's the "Tram" equivalent of The Man in Seat 61 - I'll be using a lot of trams and trollys in my travels:

1) Oslo
2) Stockholm
3) Amsterdam
4) Berlin
5) Prague
6) Munich
7) Zurich
8) Paris

Thank you for any help,

WhateverLA

They are individual city transit districts with their own tickets, prices, and rules. You'll just have to google them and find out.

In Munich, the entire tram system is within the inner zone (Innenraum) of the MVV, so if you are riding the trams with an inner zone ticket, you don't have to worry about going into an adjacent, more expensive zone. The same is almost true of the U-Bahn system. Only the last three stations, name Garching, on the U6 line are in another zone.

Here is the map of the tram system in Munich.

Here is good information on the Prague transport system. Prague has only three subway lines crossing in town. They are supplemented by an extensive system of trams. I think this is the official site for Prague transit.

this is the main website for the Prague transport system, one of the best integrated transport sytems anywhere.
as has been mentioned 3 metro lines and extensive tram system and a bus system for covering all the other areas, one ticket covers them all.you can also download their app to your phone.

Thank you all very much!

This gives me some wisdom about which sites to look up information!

if you need help with transport in Prague just ask, I am a regular visitor there (was there less than 10 days ago and will be back in August) I know the transport system pretty well.

this link will help explain the transport system and tickets in detail, great website with loads of useful info. Run by Jason who also does small group tours which are excellent.

There's urbanrail.net, but that's aimed at enthusiasts rather than travellers, and so doesn't include information about ticketing and so forth.

To be honest there's less need for a site like Seat61, as tram networks tend to work similarly to one another and there aren't the big discounts available for online booking on specific sites that you get for long-distance rail travel. Official sites for tram networks vary in how useful the English-version is, with some sites trying to push you towards expensive long-term passes that aren't necessarily the best value for money, but you can usually find pretty good information on Wikivoyage or in city guides.

Phillip,

I am not going to be booking any tram rides or a city pass in advance, so that's good to hear what you have to say! I'm more looking for routes ahead of time, so maybe I should visit the City of concern, website and see what they have to say about public transportation.

Thanks everyone!
