The plan: June 2011 DD, SIL, Mom(that's me)&DH flying into Paris for 3 nights, Bruges 1 night, Rohtenburg ob der Tauber 1 night & Munich 2 nights. Then we part company & DD & SIL go to Italy (another story) & DH & I go wherever(haven't decided). I know, I know those 1 night stays but that's the plan as DD & I have been to all these places before but DH & SIL haven't. Due to time/vacation restraints this is the way it has to be. I have been doing research & my homework but I just can't figure it out do to the distances involved. I don't want to be on a train for hours on end so would it be better to spend 4 nights in Paris & do a day trip to Bruges & then either an overnight train or fly to Munich where we can back track to Rothenburg. I have looked at so many maps, googled for info, read any & all posts on this forum & especially Lee's, Ken's & others transportation info, studied my Europe Through The Back Door, Germany & France books & can't figure it out. Cam someone please help me as I am overwhelmed. Until I get this figured out I can't go onto our final 7 nights. Any & all ideas/help is appreciated & I will have other questions. Thanks
5-course meal on a saucer. Drop Munich. Add a night to Bruges and a night to Rothenburg, and stop in Cologne or Würzburg in between to break up the break up the long train journey. The others can see Munich on their own if they're really interested.
Stephanie, I can't devote the time to train skeds, etc., right now...but I'd really consider adding a night to both Bruges and RodT - and yes, that only leaves you with 5 days at the end...
What Russ and Eileen said => that's good advice.
Although I love Rothenburg and Munich, they don't belong in a package with Paris. Visit Brussels and Bruges, visit the Mosel and Trier. Visit Köln and the Middle Rhine (St. Goar and Bacharach). Basically, see every thing that's close. Going to Munich will take 8 hours by train, 5-6 by plane. Save it for another trip.
