Finally, my iteinerary is set. I now need to tackle the transportation issues. Here is my schedule and my questions:
1.Best way from Rome to Venice? Only staying 1 night in Venice.
2.Marseille to Barcelona - best way (I belive that Ket has told me this is a 5 hour train trip / maybe fly??
3. Barcelona to Seville - Best way
4. Seville to mardid - Best way

And Dawn, remember that a 5 hour train trip is 5 hours of relaxation for talking with people and enjoying the countryside with (in Europe) little likelihood of being more than a few minutes late.
A 1 hour plane ride is 1 1/2 hours cramped in an uncomfortable sardine can, possible long waits to get through security and a much higher chance of delays.

Ah, very good point. I am going to try and surf this train thing again. I am really bad at it, I have tried. I just want to get from Avignon to Barcelona and then Barcelona to Madrid a few days later (which I think should be easy).

We have taken the train from Rome to Venice. It took 5- 6 hours. The ONLY glitch was the train was on strike and we had to wait a day to actual get on a train and then it was packed. The four of us could not get seats anywhere close to one another. This was the third time I've been on a train in Italy and the third time it's been on strike.
