Trains Italy: Venice, Rome, Naples, Sorrento, Pomeii

Above are the cities I will be visiting in Italy, I was thinking I should buy a first class saver pass (there are three of us) for four days. We are flying out of Rome our last day. Where would you start and I don't understand the whole, reservations and pass thing. I know that Sorrento and Pompeii are not serviced my trains that will take my pass, but it seems like it would be cost effective right?

For a standard per person 2nd class ticket for these runs, consider the following: Venice/Rome 61.80Euro on the Eurostar. Rome/Naples 39.90Euros on the Eurostar. BIG NOTE: You will pay a supplemental fee of 18Euro for riding on the Eurostar. You now compare these fares with the cost of the Eurail pass plus the supplemental fees. Bet that the P2P fares are less expensive. P2P is even less expensive than 2nd class saver.

Additionally, if you learn how to purchase early on www.trenitalia.com with your Visa card, you can get the new Premium fares that are 15% less than the standard fare. Also, if you ride the ICPlus trains instead of the Eurostars, you can save another 25%.

You are correct that the Circumvesuviana train from Naples to Sorrento will not take your Eurail pass.
