Hello,
I am trying to buy a ticket from Algeciras to Granada for June 30 and RENFE tells me there are no trains available--does anyone know what the deal is on this? Should I look into taking a bus? My brother and I are traveling on limited budget. We are hoping to take a 9 am or 10 am ferry over from Tanger and will arrive in Algeciras in the late-morning, so basically any bus or train in the afternoon would work. Thoughts? Thank you!!
New European train schedules go into effect Sunday, June 13th....and RENFE hasn't loaded all the new schedules into its system yet. Just keep trying each day until the trains appear. There are usually 3/day...you would make either the 1215 pm or 345 pm train. Journey time is about 4 1/2 hours.
Thank you so much, Norm.
Do you think we would be able to show up at the train station in Granada and purchase one, or is it better to buy it online?
I'd buy it in advance, even tho you won't get a discount on this run, if only to make sure you have a ticket on the train you want...after all, there are only two that you'll be able to catch. This run is popular during the summer holiday period.
Thanks SO much! I will definitely check the site every day and hopefully get the tickets soon.
Renfe would not show us our options. We finally figured out that it would not display a journey that involves connections - I.e., it only presents point-to-point options. We ended up going onto the D.Bahn site to identify the legs of our trip. Then, knowing the intermediate cities we were able to search for, and get, the legs on Renfe. E.g., Toledo to Madrid, Madrid to Xyz, Xyz to San Sebastian. When we tried to search for Toledo to San Sebastian we were told there were no trains.
thanks so much! I will check Bahn out.
