Hello, I need some advice on what the best trains (fastest, safest and cleanest) traveling in Europe for 4 weeks. We will be wanting to take a train from Paris to Milan Italy, then to Venice, Rome, Florence, Nice France, Barcelona Spain, Madrid and Bilbao. We were looking at taking a cruise from Bilabo to Portsmouth England on Brittany Ferries because we will be flying in and out of London Heathrow. Any help on trains to look at and experience on some of these long trips. I have never been on a train longer than 3 hours let alone a sleeper train.
Is there a particular reason for the RT to London? With your proposed trip flying into London and home from Rome or Madrid would make a lot more travel sense and probably save considerable money. Long distance train rides are fine. We find them very relaxing and convenient. Our benchmark is around five to six hours for a train ride. If longer than that, then we look at air options as potentially quicker.
I hate flying so non-stop from London to Seattle is the only option. We aren't too concerned with the costs. I would rather fly then train but I'm too scared. Can I book my tickets for these trains way in advance?
