We are wondering how to count countries for Rail pass- eg going by rail from Denmark to Germany, is that one or two countries? We want to go to Switzerland and France too, so hoping to do 3 country pass-(flying in to Denmark) - and where best to get rail pass? Thanks!! M&D
Maggie, The value of a rail pass can only be determined by comparing its cost to the point-to-point ("PTP" or "P2P") costs of individual tickets. Based on the information you've given, it appears you want to travel by rail in 4 countries (Denmark, Germany,France, Switz.)but remember that you might not want to use a pass in all four. For example, you could pay PTP from Denmark to the German border and use a pass from that point forward. Rail passes aren't the value they once were. You might consider posting a tentative itinerary here so others with more experience than I have can look at the legs of your journey and help you calculate how much use of a rail pass you'll need. Often booking longer trips in advance and paying PTP is a more economical option. How long is the trip? How many places within France, Germany, Switzerland are you seeing? All these details will help you come to an answer.
Matt PS You might want to delete your triplicate post of the question so you get all the responses in one thread.
