Hello, Is Basel the typical connecting city for a train trip from Paris to Interlaken? I looked into the train times, and the one option I really like has only 5 minutes of connection time in Basel. Would it be enough time to change trains? Does anyone know the Basel train station well? If it is a busy station, I am afraid 5 minutes is not going to be enough. Thank you!

I would not worry too much about it. Assuming you are buying a through ticket from TGV, you will be protected for the connection. SBB has a train departing every half hour from Basel to Interlaken Ost, so if you miss it, you won't lose much time. TGV has a late direct train and showing some pretty sweet prices depending on which day. It doesn't get in till almost midnight.
