Trains from Livorno to Florence

My family is taking a cruise and will arrive in Livorno on September 8. We would like to spend the day in Florence, but the cruise line is charging a fortune for transportation that leaves you two miles from the city center. Is there a train or bus close to the port that will take us into Florence? Thanks for your help.

Yes, there is. It's the train. There are several trains in the morning from Livorno to Florence. The trip takes 1hr. 40min. CLICK HERE to see a typical morning schedule. If your ship docks on a Monday, note that many of the best museums are closed on Monday.

Thanks, Larry. I assume it's easy to get a taxi to the train station. It looks like we could go to Florence and stop in Pisa on the way back. I'll have to check out the distance to the Leaning Tower from the train station. There are probably taxis from there as well.

Unfortunately, the cruise line didn't plan this stop very well, as I know the museums are not open. Shame on them!!! I guess we'll just have to be content with seeing the "fake David" in the piazza!
