Trains from Florence to Lucca on a Sunday

Hello! We are in Florence and want to go to Lucca tomorrow (which is Sunday). We have read that many things are closed there on Sunday. We want to rent bikes and ride around the ramparts. Anyone have any experience on a Sunday there? We will just make it a day trip there and back to Florence using trains. We were also considering stopping in Pisa on the way, but it seems like a little more work. Likewise, we are going to the Cinque Terre on Monday, so would it be better to stop by Pisa on the way there? A little more expensive, from what we could see on Trenitalia. Has anyone done this? We really want to just see the tower because of my kids. Many thanks!
Becky
