I am flying into Brussels and would like to know how I go about getting a train to Bruges. Are there trains from the airport to Bruges, or do I need to take a commuter train from the airport to Brussels city and get a train from there to Bruges. Thanks for any help.
Into Brussels and then to Bruges. Several trains each hour.
Lynne, FYI this was very easy to do. I did it last summer. Don't miss the beer garden and tour at the brewery in Bruges. ; ) Pam
Thanks, Frank and Pamela for your help.
Here's another option I did just last week:
From the airport take a direct train to Gent St. Peters station, spend the day there and take the city walking tour. When you're ready to head to Bruges hop back on the train, it's only 30 minutes away with trains twice an hour.
take the airport train (only goes into brussles ) and get off at the central station. Trains to Brugge are frequent, quiet & quick. At the Brugge station, consider taking to bus to the old central district- it's about a mile walk. We did this 5 weeks ago!
Just to clarify, you are flying into Brussels' main airport and not Brussels-Charleroi, correct?
If this is the case ( great ? Anna ), take the bus to the central station in Brussles- a 1 hour bus trip.
Thanks, Michael. We are booked into an apartment in Bruges, but will do a side trip there. Thanks for the suggestion, Bob. Sounds like you had a great time. Just another question-you are saying to take the bus into Brussels instead of a train in order to go to Bruges? Anna, yes, we are flying into the main Brussels airport. Thanks for your help.
