Can anyone share their experience of taking a train from Livorno, Italy to Pisa for their own tour?? Our cruise ship will anchor in Livorno, and I believe that the train ride is only approx. 15 mins. away to Pisa.
We want to book tickets on line for the Leaning Tower of Pisa?? Does anyone know the website and/or if you can purchase on line??
Thanks
Angela from Canada
You can check train schedules at www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html. For such a short train ride, it would not be worth it to buy train tickets in advance. Just buy them at the station. And make sure to validate (stamp) your tickets in the little yellow machines. As to tickets for the Tower, I don't have any info there.
To buy your tickets try this link:

When you arrive in the Pisa Train schedule you can attempt to figure out the bus connections that will take you to the Field of Miracles or you can just do the kick, easy, cheap thing and hop in a taxi. Our fare was around 15 Euros and you don't waste time reading bus schedules or signing up for some silly tour guide.
You can pick up your tickets in the ticket office which is located right at the base of the tower. It's really a fun place to visit.
A bus or taxi will certainly speed up your visit. However, if you wish to walk, it's a leisurely 30 minute walk from the train station up the main street with shops, across the Arno river and onto the tower area. The RS book has very good instructions.
