Trains

I checked first class trains from Berlin to Munich to Salzberg to Vienna. About $2000 US dollars for 4. Can i buy the Austria/Germany First Class for $1500 for 5 day's of travel and actually save $500 and get two more day's of travel?

If you're willing to go 2nd class, you can get discount fares. Berlin-Munich: The cheapest adult discount fare is less than €50. The standard 2 class fare is over €120. Children 14 and younger ride free when accompanied by a parent or grandparent. Book ASAP (up to 92 days allowed) on the German Rail site. Munich-Salzburg: A Bayern-Ticket costs €29 and allows 2-5 people traveling together to go anywhere in Bavaria all day long, including the border station at Salzburg. You are limited to regional trains and cannot depart until after 09:00 on weekdays (anytime on weekends). Buy your Bayern-Ticket in Munich. Salzburg-Vienna: An Einfach-Raus Ticket costs €28 and allows 2-5 people traveling together to go anywhere in Austria all day long. You are limited to regional trains and cannot depart until after 09:00 on weekdays (anytime on weekends). Buy your Einfach-Raus Ticket in Salzburg.

Jack, here are you getting these prices? Full fare, 1st class, Berlin to Munich, is €784 ($1038) from the Bahn. Munich to Wien is €569 ($780). Breaking that trip in two would not affect full fare by much. That's well less than $2000, and if some are kids, it's even less. Also, there are a lot of regional and discount fares, and no one said you have to go 1st class. Someone sure saw you coming.
