I am not sure there is a night train that will get you from Rome to Paris in an 8 to 10 hour period. Without checking schedules, I think the train is closer to 12 to 18 hours and involves a number of train changes. For that kind of distance a cheap airplane makes more sense.

There is a direct night train from Rome to Paris. It departs at 18:40 and arrives at 09:16. I like trains and sleep well on them so I wouldn't hesitate to take this train. However, the train expert at www.seat61.com says that service on night trains between Italy and France has been deteriorating. See here.

You could fly Ciampino-Orly on easyJet, leaving at 20:30 and arriving at 22:30. That would give you a full final day in Rome. (No saving on hotel costs, of course, like you would if you took the night train.) If you book well in advance, you can get a ticket for around 30 EUR. Go to www.flylc.com to see all the budget airlines that fly Rome-Paris.
