Planing my trip from Paris to Lausanne Switzerland and wanted to know how many hours the train trip would be and if I can get one train - direct from Paris to Lausanne. Many thanks Alex
According to the Swiss Rail website (www.sbb.ch) The trip takes about 4 hours, there are some direct TGV trains that don't require a change, other departure require a change in Geneva.
thanks for this helpful reply, i've checked out the site, but not sure if there is only one staion in Lausanne that the train stops at. There were lots of options of stops to choose from when i was looking at the timetable. We are staying at Lausanne GuestHouse & Backpacker
Ch. des Epinettes 4 1007 Lausanne.
Any help with the right station to get off at would be great. Thanks Alex
It would be best if you contacted your guesthouse and asked THEM which stop to travel to.
According to both www.sbb.ch and www.bahn.de, the train only stops at the main Lausanne station.
We just stayed at the guesthouse and backpacker in Lausanne (May 15th) and it was so convenient to the train station. Go out the main doors of the train station and turn left. You'll go down a hill and through a tunnel. The signs are clearly marked. The hostel is actually visible from the platform, but the sign wasn't big enough to read when we arrived, we only noticed it on the way out of town.
We travelled from Paris into Lausanne via Dijon (Left from Gare du Lyon).
The Lausanne/CFF/Gare station is the main train station. The hotel site you have mentioned above has a very nice map to their location from the train station.
