Hi- My boyfriend and I have seen a lot of great shows about Dubrovnik and the Dalmatian coast. We are wondering if you can get there by train from Austria or Germany. We would spend a week in Austria and then go to Croatia from there. It looks like there is a train that goes from Vienna to Split but not to Dubrovnik. Any suggestions? Has anyone been there? There is no train to Dubrovnik. Your best alternative would be Vienna to Split and then take a bus down the coast to Dubrovnik.

If you google "adriatic ferries" or "ferries from italy to Dubrovnik" you will find that there are a number of options that will take you to Dubrovnik. Some of these are overnight trips, so it will save a hotel night and a travel day getting you there.
