Train Travel - Rome to Paris

Hey, so I was wondering if I could get some helpful tips.

I´m planning a trip that´s starting in Rome, working my way towards Paris in the following sequence:

Rome
Florence
Venice
Interlaken
Cologne
Paris

I´m unable to get a railpass before I hit the road, but don´t want to have to spend a boatload of money on train tickets. I´m looking for the best way to go about getting tickets/booking/finding trainlines between the cities. If you know anything that might be the slightest bit helpful, I´d really appreciate it.

Also if anyone has any tips on any hostels that they stayed at in any of the cities, any suggestions would be a HUGE help.

Thanks!

If those are your only train journeys, a railpass would be more expensive. Trenitalia charges an 15E-20E supplemental fee for riding the Eurostar class trains. If you plan on visiting the Lauterbrunnen Valley (Wengen, Gimmelwald, Murren), you're getting close to needing a Swiss pass or card of some type. If you plan on going up to the top of the Jungfrau and/or the Schilthorn, a Swiss pass or card is better.

Rome to Florence on the Eurostar is 39.90Euro. It's about 25% less on the IC train but there are not that many IC train runs. Plus, they stop at more stops and thus take longer. Florence/Venice is 35.20E. Venice/Interlaken is about 60E. I don't have information on the remainder of your journey.
