What is the best way to learn how to use a train to leavve paris and go into italy. We would like to visit - Venice,milan,florence,assisi,and rome. primnarily using the train.

The Man in Seat 61 can help you. Go to his website www.seat61.com. He had a long post on Frommer's the other day about a new overnight train, the Thello, which goes from Paris to Venice, and a link to a video showing the experience. Looks great.
