We are arriving in Madrid and want to take train to Barcelona where will board cruise ship. Then want to take train from port in Civitavecchia to Rome, and disembark in Venice where we want to take the train to Paris. We would prefer a day train so can see the sights along the way. Are we better off booking individually or getting a railpass? If we book each leg in the country, how far in advance can/must we do so?
