We are traveling to Zagreb from Chicago in Sept 2012 with a Sat. morning arrival. The plan is to use UA miles. If we travel by train to Zagreb, which airport is a better choice?
The plan is to stop in a few spots overnight and arrive by Monday or Tuesday. Thanx.

This information is readily available on the German Rail website, but it might help if you spell the name of Frankfurt correctly. Most connections I can find go through Munich, so it should be shorter, faster, and at least no more expensive going from Munich instead of Frankfurt. German rail and other European rail lines adjust their schedules every six month and upload them to a common data base in December and June. Right now you can only see the schedules through Dec 10, and in a few weeks it will be through early June, 2012. But use a date available now. The schedules are unlikely to change much, if at all, by then. Your frequent flyer miles might make it less expensive to fly into FRA, but would that offset the extra cost of the train from Frankfurt to Zagreb? Only you can tell. It is possible, but not probable that you could get an advance purchase Europa-Spezial-Ticket from Frankfurt to Zagreb or from Munich to Zagreb for the same price, starting at €39, but the popularity of the Frankfurt to Munich connection makes that unlikely. And the uncertainty of arrival times make the Europa-Spezial-Ticket risky.
