How does one arrange travel by train from CDG to Giverny then on to Avignon, then another train to L'Isle sur la Sorgue?
Many thanks for your wise words. Ann, Carmel, CA

Here is the French train site. Only trick is to use France as ticket collection country.

Ann, Giverny does not have a train station. The closest is Vernon which is 8km from Giverny. There is a bus between the two locations. From the Paris-CDG train station, it will take 4.5hrs and 2 train changes according to the French train website posted by Sam above. Not great news. Most trains for Vernon depart from the Paris-Saint-Lazare train station. This trip takes 49 minutes. It's not that easy to get to Saint-Lazare from the airport either. One way is a taxi. About 60E-70E. The other is to take the RER B from the airport to Gare de Nord (30 minutes). Then, change to the RER E to get to Saint Lazare. Luggage can be a problem. There are steps and long corridors to negotiate.
To get to the Avignon-TGV station (not Avignon-Centre), you return to the Paris Saint-Lazare station and then at this point, it's best to take a taxi to Gare de Lyon. The news gets a bit better here. There are great TGV runs to Avignon-TGV. 2hr39min for some with fares as low as 30Euro for non-refundable tickets. You can book 90 days out and print these tickets out at home. From the Avignon-TGV station, there are reportedly several daily buses (Ligne 6) to L'Isle sur la Sorgue. Note that if you are staying in Avignon, the Avignon-TGV station a 10-minute bus ride out of town. There are regular bus runs between the Avignon-TGV and Avignon-Centre train stations (they are not connected by tracks).
