Train travel between Basil and PAris

For me "best option" would be the lowest possible fare. That means traveling 2nd class. All you get in 1st class is 2+1 seating rather than 2+2 seating and seats that are slightly wider. There is plenty of leg room in 2nd class so 1st class is not worth the extra money, IMO. On the other hand, you may think that it's well worth paying more for 1st class. It's a matter of personal preference. What is your travel date?

That's a better price than I got today...that fare may be gone. That's about the same as the 2nd-class fares I got. OK - Now I'm finding 1st-class fares for CHF 125; I was making you out to be too much of an early-bird! Big question - are you planning this trip immediately after landing in Switzerland, or will you have spent time in Basel? Those cheaper prices are non-exchangeable and non-refundable. They're a great deal if you don't miss your train :-( For a 3-hour trip, and on a nice TGV, I'd probably save the money spent on 1st class on wine ;-) Here are photos (and a video) on your train so you can see 1st class vs 2nd class. I would book - and have booked - this train ASAP and print the tickets at home!

Since you're leaving from Basel(note Spelling) why not go to the Swiss Rail website and see if there are any special offers, I recently booked the same route and got a ticket for a specific train for 31 chf single. The website is www.sbb.ch/en check at the the bottom of the timetable.

The standard 2nd class fare for a Basel-Paris direct TGV is 131.00 CHF.
