Does anyone have a suggestion for getting from Salzburg, Austria Oct. 8th to Venice, Italy? We were hoping to go by train!!!

If you book today on the Austrian Rail site, you can get a SparSchiene discount fare of €29.00 for an InterCity train from Salzburg to Villach and a well-appointed highway bus operated by Austrian Rail from there to Venezia Mestre. Buy a ticket at Venezia Mestre for the 12-minute ride on a regional train to Venezia Santa Lucia. Leave Salzburg at 08:12 and arrive at Venezia Mestre at 14:05. Or leave at 10:12 and arrive at 16:05. Or leave at 12:12 and arrive at 18:05.

The rail journey from Salzburg to Villach is incredibly scenic as well. You pass through a region called the Hoehe Tauern - it's a slow journey but worth it.
