The fastest trains go from Munich to Frankfurt in a little more than 3 hours. There's at least one each hour. What else do you want to do that day?

Once in Frankfurt we intend to spend about 4 days exploring the city, taking a half or whole day Rhine River excursion, then go to the airport and fly back to the USA. I guess we will try to leave Munich about 9:00 or 10:00 AM, reach Frankfurt and somehow arrange to get to our B and B. This is the last leg of a 6 week adventure which begins in Prague, then proceeds with a Danube River trip to Budapest, then by train to Krakow, then to Berlin and down to Munich. Thanks for your help. Hal

Hal, rather than you asking for various pairs of cities, and us asking for more detail and you seeing that and asking for other detail, can I tell you how to find the information yourself? Then you can "what if" as you wish... If you scroll up the list of threads in Transportation until you find the second one from the top entitled How much time to get there? & itinerary questions answered here, click it and then click on Train: Click Here for train travel times you will get to complete instructions on to easily use the DB train time website at http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query.exe/en which will answer all those questions...

You can follow this link to the German Rail website's Query page. Type in "Muenchen Hbf" for Start. For Destination, change the radio button from Station/Stop to Address and type in the address of your hotel (include "Frankfurt(M)" or the postal code). If you don't know it's address, you can try POI (point of interest). That should give you a detail of the route all the way to your hotel, including U-/S-Bahns, trams, or buses, plus any walking instructions.

Hal, Good that you're spending the last four days in Frankfurt and vicinity, depending if you want to do a day trip r/t or even two. The Munich to Frankfurt Hbf leg of your trip is easy, direct on the ICE, as pointed out, very frequent departures, and takes ca. 3.25 hrs. If you plan on sitting in 1st class, leave after 10:00, otherwise you'll be sitting with all the business people in 1st class at 9:00. The Munich-Frankfurt ICE line is crowded in 1st class on week days in the morning. Better to sit in 2nd class, unless you arrange to leave on a week-end.
