we are planning on headding to germany/austria/amsterdam in aug of 2011, i was wondering how long of a train ride it is from where we will be staying in germany -rodalben (closetst train station is in perminsense (spelling?)) to amsterdam? any info on this?

I think YOU need to check the spelling of "Perminsense" There is a town called Pirmasens south of Kaiserslautern and the nearby town of Rodelben has its own Bahnhof, although it looks like you would connect through Pirmasens. It's about 7-8 hrs to Amsterdam via Kaiserslautern and Frankfurt.
