We have train from Rome to Venice and then from Venice to Innsbruck. I am sure you can get from Innsbruck to Munich. Go the sites mentioned on railpass info on ricksteves.com

George, Yes, there are numerous trains from Munich to Rome, however several changes will be required. Your destination will be Roma Termini, so be sure to specify the correct station when you buy the ticket. Use the www.bahn.de/i/view/USA/en/index.shtml website for more detailed information. Use this URL for the German Rail (Bahn) schedule website. Bahn.de will get you here eventually, might as well start here. As I said on the other thread, there are direct EC trains from Munich to Verona or Bologna and Italian Express trains direct from there to Rome - one change.
